AIMS research vessel "Neptune's Chariot" expands the
capability of CFSF  research.

"Many of the world's fisheries are being exploited at levels that cannot be sustained.
...Ever since the 1950's, the exploitation of new fishing grounds, advances in navigation and fishing technologies, environmental degradation and the harvesting of previously un-fished species have been contributing to an unprecedented and accelerating depletion of the world's fish stocks."

The Rosenstiel School is an acknowledged international leader in marine and atmospheric science ranking among the top four oceanographic institutions in the country. The Center has launched a $30 million fund raising campaign to integrate the research facilities and equipment necessary to carry out its goals. AIMS provides crew and vessels, including trailered runabouts for coral reef research in shallow waters, to the 80' Navy Yard Patrol 672 for open water research and collecting. AIMS also provides direct funding to the students and projects undertaken by the
Center For Sustainable Fisheries
.

Billfish such as marlin, swordfish, and sailfish are among the most endangered of the open water giants that used to roam the oceans in numbers and size which we will never see again. We can stop the decline and revive the growth of these unique species if we act now.

AIMS also works with Rosenstiel School to provide G.L.O.B.E.,
Global Learning and Observation to Benefit the Environment, to teachers in Florida and around the world. Managed by a Federal task force from NASA, the National Science Foundation, and other organizations, the G.L.O.B.E. Program links scientists with over 5,000 schools in 68 countries. Students have collected over 1 million observations.
